Findings:
A well-defined, T2 hyperintense mass with heterogenous enhancement is seen centred at – and expanding -the left jugular foramen.
It measures approximately 2.6 x 1.0 cm. The lesion abuts the midbrain laterally without any significant mass effect.
Post-operative area of encephalomalacia is seen in the left cerebellar hemisphere with associated gliosis and left cerebellar atrophy. Consequential ex vacuo dilatation of the fourth ventricle. The brain parenchyma is otherwise unremarkable. There is no hydrocephalus or midline shift.
The pituitary gland is unremarkable.
The orbits, paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are clear. No bony abnormality is seen.
Conclusion:
Known left glossopharyngeal nerve schwannoma.
