Thyroglossal duct cyst

Findings:
A left paramidline, lobulated, cystic lesion is noted over the left lamina of thyroid cartilage of larynx just below the level of hyoid bone, protruding into the pre-epiglottic space. It measures approximately 3 x 2 cm and shows high signal intensity on T1 and mixed signal on T2. It lies deep to left strap muscles with peak towards midline. No appreciable enhancement on the postcontrast study. No lymphadenopathy.

The soft tissue of the neck is otherwise unremarkable.


The imaged brain is unremarkable.
Mucosal thickening and fluid retention is seen in the paranasal sinuses bilaterally. The mastoid air cells are clear.
No bony abnormality is seen.

Conclusion:
Features compatible with a thyroglossal duct cyst. No sinister pathology.
