Findings:
A rounded lesion with peripheral signal drop-out consistent with hemosiderin is seen in the right side of midbrain. Centrally the lesion is heterogeneous in signal with regions of high signal on both T1 and T2 weighted images. Prominent blooming artefact demonstrated on SWI. It measures approximately 1.2 x 1.0 cm. There is no peripheral edema and no evidence of hydrocephalus.
The remainder of the intracranial appearances are normal.
The orbits, paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are clear.
No bony abnormality is seen.
Conclusion:
Approximately 1 cm measuring midbrain cavernous malformation. No acute haemorrhage.
