Subacute striatal infarct

Findings:
There is a circumscribed hypointense area in T1, hyperintense in T2 & FLAIR sequences, with diffusion restriction involving the body of the caudate nucleus and the centrum semiovale on the left side. No evidence of any haemorrhagic changes on the SWI sequence. The brain parenchyma is otherwise unremarkable.
The ventricles and sulcal spaces are within normal limits. The midline structures are normal with no midline shift.
The pituitary gland is normal.
Mild mucosal thickening is seen in the right maxillary sinus. The orbits, paranasal sinuses and mastoid air cells are otherwise clear.
No bony abnormality is seen. The craniocervical junction is normal.

Conclusion:
Subacute striatal infarct involving the body of the caudate nucleus and the centrum semiovale on the left side. No intracranial haemorrhage.
